Jones Hall is proud to present ’Twas the Night Before Christmas just in time for the holiday season. Envision sugar plums, flying reindeer, and a sleigh filled with toys as the classic holiday story comes to life with live music and narration on Saturday, December 14th!
A Visit from St. Nicholas, more commonly known as The Night Before Christmas and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, is a poem first published anonymously in 1823 and later attributed to Clement Clarke Moore, who claimed authorship in 1837. The poem has been called "arguably the best-known verses ever written by an American" and is largely responsible for some of the conceptions of Santa Claus from the mid-nineteenth century to today. Before the poem gained wide popularity, American ideas had varied considerably about Saint Nicholas and other Christmastide visitors—but this poem unified traditions across the world!
In addition to a performance of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas, guests can sing along to festive holiday favorites, like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. If you sing loudly enough, you might even receive a visit from a very special man in a red suit! Families will also enjoy a craft station and other musical activities, such as our Instrument Petting Zoo in the Jones Hall lobby! Activities take place from 9–9:50 AM before the 10 AM concert and 12:30 PM performance.
Children of all ages, including infants, are welcome at Family Series performances. Ticket prices will vary and are available for purchase at Jones Hall. All patrons, except lap children, must have a ticket.
